Train and Road Coach Luggage Conditions
The normal free luggage allowance on Transwa services is one (1) piece of stowed luggage not exceeding 20 kilograms and one (1) piece of carry on luggage not exceeding 7 kilograms. All additional luggage will incur a fee of $10.00 per item (maximum of two (2) items).
Passengers are responsible for:
- the labelling and handling of their own luggage; and
- the loading and unloading of their own luggage.
Please Note:
All items to be carried must be packed properly, sealed, be of a manageable size and shape. The weight allowance is 20 kilograms per item (maximum total of two (2) items) with a total weight of 40 kilograms. Where the physical attributes of a Transwa staff member makes lifting and handling of such items difficult, the passenger will be obliged to render the staff member assistance.
Stowed Luggage
Stowed luggage is limited to luggage of a personal nature that would consist of a person’s clothing and other personal items such as:
· Toiletries;
· Collapsible prams, pushers and baby carriers;
· Collapsible wheelchairs;
· Personal tool boxes (of a reasonable size);
· Collapsible fishing rods;
· Sporting items (of a reasonable size);
· Small electrical items packed in original packaging; and
· Suitably packaged and sealed alcohol.
Luggage will only be accepted in bona fide packaging such as:
· Suitcases;
· Overnight bags;
· Backpacks;
· Eskies (not to contain perishable food items); and
· Other substantial carry bags (sealed).
Please note that allocated areas for wheelchairs and gophers on Transwa services are not for prams or strollers.
Carry-on Luggage
Hand held carry-on luggage (maximum of one (1) item with a weight not exceeding 7 kilograms) may include camera cases, video bags, laptop computers and items of a similar size and must be able to fit into the overhead storage compartment.
Please note:
Transwa accepts no liability for items such as cameras, electrical goods, jewellery, money, tools, bicycles, surfboards, golf clubs or any other luggage that is fragile or that is not suitably labelled.
Luggage storage facilities are not available at Transwa stations or pick-up points.
Carriage of Bicycles and Surfboards
Bicycles and surfboards will be carried on all services (excluding the Prospector - see note below) if space permits. Both will incur a fee of $10.00.
· Bicycles – are to fit in the storage compartment. It is recommended that bicycles be pre-booked as space is limited.
· Surfboards and bodyboards - must be suitably packaged.
Note:
On the Australind service, bicycles can only be loaded/unloaded at Perth City and Bunbury stations, due to safety regulations.
On the Prospector service, a maximum of 2 (two) fold-up bicycles can be carried as long as they are in an approved carry bag.
Carriage of Golf Clubs
A regulation set of golf clubs in a standard size golf bag with an attached cover can be accepted for carriage on the Prospector, MerredinLink and AvonLink services (maximum of eight per service) for a fee of $10 per bag. Advance bookings are recommended as the carriage of golf clubs will only occur where bulkhead seating is available.
Prohibited Luggage
For the comfort and safety of all passengers the following items will not be accepted as luggage on Transwa services under any circumstances.
All services:
· Perishable foods;
· Flora and fauna - no live plants, livestock or pets (other than guide dogs). Flower arrangements can only be carried as personal carry-on luggage;
· Dangerous goods – any fuels, oils, solvents, ammunition, acids, radioactive material or chemicals or explosives;
· Windsurfing boards, surf-skis and kayaks;
· All gas cylinders including diving tanks (this does not include medical oxygen for personal on board use);
· Large electrical items; and
· Small machinery - no fuels or oils.
Prospector only:
Bicycles (unless folded in an approved carry bag), surfboards or bodyboards.
