Esperance

Create your own story.

720 km east-southeast from Perth, nestled along a beautiful white sand coastline, lays Esperance. When French explorers sheltered in the bay during a storm in 1792, they named it 'Espérance', meaning hope. It was in the 1890s that the small town became known as the "gateway to the Goldfields," serving as the seaport for supplies, settlers and prospectors seeking riches further inland. To this date, Esperance is the only port in the south-east of WA.

Renowned for white sandy beaches and clear blue waters, Esperance is located near 5 major national parks, the Western Australian Stonehenge and the infamous Cyclops Wave—the world's heaviest wave.

The Esperance Coach Stop is located on the beachfront (Dempster Street) in the centre of town.
