 Prospector Passes Million-Kilometre Milestone
Prospector Passes Million-Kilometre Milestone

16 June 2009

Transwa’s Prospector train has clocked up a significant milestone.

As well as freshening up the railcars, the new carpet is harder-wearing and easier to clean. The three Prospectors will be recarpeted in turn to avoid affecting services. All refurbishments will be completed by the end of June.

To mark the milestone, the railcars are receiving a minor refurbishment – which includes replacing the carpet in the saloon and the vinyl flooring in the galley.

By the time of the anniversary, on June 28, the new Prospector will have carried more than 452,000 passengers.

The achievement comes just short of the fifth anniversary of the introduction of the new railcars in 2004, replacing their a 33-year-old predecessor.

The three trains (two two-car and one three-car) which operate the service each passed the million-kilometre mark last month.
